Cub Scout Onboarding
It’s always great to see our Scouts after the summer break. There are a few steps to getting scouts registered for the new school year.
New Scouts
- Complete the Membership Form found HERE.
- Pay the Scout’s dues. Pack 502 annual dues are $228. Registration with the National BSA system requires an additional one-time $25 fee. Families can also receive the optional Scout Life magazine in the mail for an additional $15.
Returning and Transferring Scouts
- Pay the returning Scout’s dues. For a returning or transferring Scout, Pack 502 annual dues are $228. There is an optional $15 additional payment if the family would like to receive Scout Life magazine.
The Dues include:
- National Dues $80 and Council (Local) Dues $48
- Pack Dues $100
- All awards for the Scout, including end of year recognition.
- Den and pack meetings for the year
A family can pay for their Scout in one of three ways:
- By check made out to Pack 502
- Via Zelle to the Pack 502 account at (210) 723-2705
- Via Venmo to the pack 502 account at (210) 723-2705 or user @Kevin-Hatch-19.

Additional Fundraising for the Year
Cub Scout Packs traditionally raise funds through popcorn sales every fall. Pack 502 is no exception. In order to completely cover the unit’s outlays for the year, we ask all returning Scouts to sell at least $300 worth of popcorn during the popcorn sales period, 
which runs roughly from the beginning of the school year to the first of October.
The pack receives about 38% of the proceeds from the sales. If a returning Scout chooses not to sell or cannot meet the $300 mark in sales, the family will be responsible for an additional $114 payment to the Pack. New Scouts are not required to sell popcorn but are welcome to and are not responsible for the $114 payment. The Pack, however, would greatly benefit by as many as possible contributing to the effort.
Any sales above and beyond the $300 will be placed in a special account for the Scout to use on activities through the year.
